Let's Get Creative!

Neuroscience is teaching us that ‘self-expression’ is one of the, if not the, most important way for people to connect, navigate and grow with each other. (Judith E. Glaser - Psychology Today 2016)

In a world where we live on screens and move from context to context at the touch of a button, our collective mental health is under immense strain. Taking time to create, and through creativity, process, express and share, allows us to press the pause button and reconnect with ourselves, our emotions and even with one another.

Qualification & Experience

Writing has been a passion of mine since I discovered the creative and expressive potential of the spoken (and sung) word as a teenager, however, it was only outside of the school and educational context that I really explored words and word play. Song writing became a passion as I entered secondary school and re-recording the set of A.A. Milne poems for my granny when her sight failed, ignited a passion for poetry and started my writing in a similar style.

Having trained in youth and community work and realising the value of self expression and exploration through creativity, I developed a passion to enable young people to engage with and explore the world around them, their own beliefs and interplay between the two. This lead me into schools, contributing to PSHE, RE and the extracurricular activities and education of students. Having gained experience engaging pupils creatively with the world around them, encouraging them I began tutoring maths, English and science at a primary level, and maths and science at secondary level, taking joy in seeing students discover new skills. During this time I both received and contributed to tutor training delivered through the tutor trust.

I the midst of all this, I toured with and wrote for a professional band, with whom I published a number of singles, an album and EP exploring many different themes.
